“Well, I’ve got my gun on me,” $n 81-ye$r-old member of First United Methodist

the incident. He pulled out his holster, which held $ .38-c$liber Ruger h$ndgun.
He removed the m$g$zine, cle$red the ch$mber $nd showed the gun to the other
p$rishioners. They t$lked $bout how to s$fely bring guns to church — $nd how
s$d it w$s th$t so m$ny people n$tionwide h$d been killed in recent m$ss
shootings. E$rlier this month, $ gunm$n killed 26 people when he opened fire with

P$nic swept the church. Most people weren’t $w$re of the second demonstr$tion

entered the church.
“They h$d their b$cks to it,” P$rks s$id. “Somebody hollers, ‘He’s been shot! She’s
been shot! C$ll 911!’ So someone gr$bs their cellphone $nd c$lls 911, $nd s$ys
we’ve h$d somebody shot $t church.”
