NCHL Competencies
(National Center for Healthcare Leadership)
The NCHL “was developed to provide the field with a comprehensive, validated
competency model that will be suitable as the foundation for a breadth of leadership
assessment and development applications” (NCHL, 2017). There where tons of goals
that the authors mention to becoming an evidence based leader. As I was reading, I
noticed that some of the goals that were mention line up with some of my strengths
that I have as a leader. Some of my strengths are accountability, being an innovative
thinker, interpersonal understanding, and impact and influence. I think some of my
weaknesses are relationship building and collaboration. I think that my weaknesses has
a great deal with me being an introvert. I have struggled with this ordeal most of my life.
I struggle with the sense of meeting and interacting with new people but once I get to
know someone, I guess it brings out some of my stronger qualities, for instances, being
understanding and a person that influences innovative thinking in a positive way. I
notice that the strengthen that I possess demonstrates the type of individual I really am.
I am always wanting to see others grow and excel in anything that they put their mind
to. I notice on the health leadership model that my strengths stems from
Transformation and Execution but I struggle sometimes with the People portion of the
model. This model for this discussion shows me what areas I need to improve in
healthcare leadership.
