DISC Assessment
The personality test I took can be found at 123 test.com. This is the first time
I have ever taken a personality test. I must admit that it was pretty accurate. The
DISC personality model was broken down into four sections. Dominance,
influence, steadiness and compliance.
The summary of my results was that I have a strong inner motivation to
assertively create and implement new ideas. Handles pressure well, strives for
excellence and expects others to do the same. Innovative but tends to avoid taking
risks. (a detail summary is attached).
The four personality types are analytical, driver, amiable and expressive. I
am very analytical, sometimes to the point where I overthink things. I just believe
that thought needs to be put into every decision. The flipside to that is I can be very
critical of others who are spontaneous with their decisions and actions. I can also
relate to the driver personality type. Most of my roles throughout my career have
been in management. I also admire others in roles of leadership. I find that a
individual who is able to work their way to the top is inspiring. It is hard for me to
have the same admiration for an individual who just walks into a position of power
without truly working for it. I cannot relate to the amiable personality type. I am

outspoken and I am not afraid to challenge someone when I am confident in my
response. I am not afraid of conflict and will professionally stand my ground. I
cannot relate to the expressive personality type. I am social when I need to be but I
would prefer to be a loner and be by myself. When it comes to my career I am very
lively. In my personal/social life, I prefer a small circle of people. The information
I learned through the personality assessment can help me in my current role as a
supervisor. It will help me understand that not everyone will think every decision
through and they may not always execute it a high standard. As a leader it is my
job to use the knowledge that I have to make an individual better and train them
instead of being so critical of their mistakes.
My personality can affect the professional environment in both a positive
and negative way. I am a confident leader who pushes a team to strive for success
and meet goals. I am fair, firm and consistent. I believe in training, follow up and
accountability. The possible downside is that some may not respond to my
aggressive leadership style. This may cause it individual to shut down. I think that
my approach is fine, but I need to be aware of the individuals learning style and
use that style to help them progress. Everyone Is different and therefore may
require something different than the next individual.
