a. Compute a Pearson correlation coefficient for each set of scores. You can
do this in matlab using the function “corr” or in Excel using the function
“correl”. Obtain the Pearson r, and relevant means and standard
deviations. (3 points)
b. Plot the scores from each set on a separate scatterplot. Inspect the
scatterplot and report whether the data met the assumptions of the
Pearson correlation coefficient analysis. (2 points)
c. Compare the correlation coefficients that you obtained, and inspect your
scatterplots. Can you think of any reasons why the correlation coefficients
differed the way they did? Is the Pearson correlation coefficient
appropriate for both sets of scores? Why or why not? (2 points)
