Reflection
he assumptions I had in the beginning of this course was using the right methodology, how to
link research question to a research framework and the type of instrument to use for my project
Looking through the syllabus and seeing all are about research created fear in me. Fear is
something everyone faces especially when you have limited knowledge on a situation/subject.
What keep me going was my desire to get my doctorate. I have used these strategies to overcome
my fears by acknowledging it, facing the fears, reading more about it, learning and making it a
source of fascination, harness the power of it, benefitting from it and seeing it as an opportunity
to be an expert.
I cannot say if I encountered any challenges but instead I have a list of positive qualities I
achieved during this course. This course has helped me to be more specific and focus in my
research question and design. I know and can search about research methods that is applicable to
my topic. This course has also given me the opportunity to interact with my course mate from
other disciplines.
All the aspects in this course will be useful to me and in my profession. What intrigued me was
the opportunity to apply step-by-step assessment guidelines to a scholarly quantitative article and
the frequency of reading and assessing quality of a scholarly article has improved my skill in
selecting a research topic, study design, data collection/ analysis, interpreting the results, critique
research, implication and recommendation.
Finally, I will say thank you to my instructors for your positive, informative and instantaneous
response to all the course room and the grades. Kudos to all my course mates for the exceptional
post and feedback. All the best in your doctoral journey.
