Being the team leader, I had an active role in all different aspects. I was heavily involved in the
Management, Marketing, Operations, Creative and Special decisions. I monitored the simulation
and made changes to the different aspects as necessary after consulting the rest of the team.
Decisions were made together as a team to further the success of Cups.
We decided to add a manager, hire more servers and increase the wages of all the employees. We
also decided to sell organic coffee and increasing the number of cups purchased. I believe these
decisions allowed us to sustain effective progress and allow for maximization of efficiency.
What surprised me the most about running the coffee shop is that even though it is a simulation,
it is something that requires attention and is not easy. For the shop to succeed, many decisions
need to be made after ample and thoughtful consideration.
I believe the key change that I made that helped Cups the most was the increasing of wages of
the employees and by hiring more servers. While this increases Cups’s costs, this allows for
employee satisfaction and ensuring that our employees aren’t overworked and are therefore
delivering the best possible experience to our customers.
I don’t believe that I would change my approach. This is because me and the rest of the Cups
team worked effectively to ensure success for Cups. The effects of our hard work are shown by
us winning both the Best Ambience and the Best Staff.
I believe I had a very positive experience with this business simulation experience. As mentioned
earlier, it was something that required careful consideration but was overall a very enjoying
experience that I believe has equipped me with better critical thinking skills for the future.
