Expert answer:Hi, this is the initial question for the paper I wrote and submitted which the instructor rejected : Quantitative Annotated BibliographyIn this week’s discussion question you were asked to consider a potential problem (appropriate to your role option) that you would like to investigate through nursing research. For this assignment you will review current research from South’s Online Library and provide a critical evaluation on that research through an annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a brief summary and analysis of the journal article reviewed. For more information on annotated bibliographies please visit Purdue’s OWL: Purdue Online Writing LabA total of two annotated bibliographies are to be submitted (not to exceed one page each). The articles must come from nursing scholarly literature and may not be older than 5 years since publication. Please note that the articles must be research based and reflect a quantitative methodology (review our reading assignments). Web pages, magazines, textbooks, and other books are not acceptable. Each annotation must address the following critical elements:Explanation of the main purpose and scope of the cited workBrief description of the research conductedValue and significance of the work (e.g., study’s findings, scope of the research project) as a contribution to the subject under considerationPossible shortcomings or bias in the workConclusions or observations reached by the authorSummary as to why this research lends evidence to support the potential problem identified specific to your role Then the instructor replied this : Individual FeedbackHi,Your paper is not acceptable. Review the announcement about the annotated bibliographies. You need to use headings to organize your paper. Now below is the instruction for the annotated bibliography: Instructions for Annotated BibliographiesNov 9, 2017 12:00 AMHello ClassFor the annotated bibliographies, you need to use each “critical element” as a heading to organize your paper. Also, note in the instructions that each annotated bibliography can only be one page.Below please find headings you should use with a brief explanation about the content that should go with each heading (critical element). The purpose of asking you to use the critical elements as headings is to ensure you don’t miss any part of the annotated bibliography..Each heading below is in bold print. Each heading should be centered on your page. The content under each heading (critical element) does not have to be long. Be succinct. And, avoid words like “this, that, these those, in order to). Effective Communication in Nursing – Annotated Bibliography
Bello, O. (2017). Effective Communication in Nursing Practice: A literature review.

The article explains that communication is an involuntary process which many people
tend to overlook its importance. Other people have ignored the effectiveness of the aspect in
most of the operations in life. However, in nursing, the nurses have to communicate with the
patients and the doctors taking care of the sick. The author argues that ineffective
communication is one of the factors that would make the nursing profession fail to meet the set
goals and objectives. In this case, when nurses do not communicate with each other or with the
patients or doctors taking care of various situations, it may lead to the occurrence of medical
errors which may affect the lives of the patients.
However, the author explains some of the contributing factors to ineffective
communication and the barriers to the success of nurses in the profession. Ineffective
communication has played a significant role in threatening the lives of the patients in hospitals
and most of the nurses have fallen victim to the issue. Therefore, there is the need to address the
problem which will enable the nurses to meet the demands of their career in the healthcare
facilities. The author, however, explains in his findings that effective communication has a
positive impact on the lives of patients as they receive medical services in hospitals. The author
does not address some of the ways through which the management contributes to ineffective
communication. Regardless of the shortcomings, the author provides essential information
related to research from various institutions. Therefore, the article makes an informed summary

The article addresses some of the methods through which nurses have to take care of the
patients with intellectual disability. The caregivers have to ensure that they have delivered the
best quality of attention to the patients. Nurses have gone through training in different skills
which they should offer to patients regardless of the conditions. Most of the people do not know
about the type of care that patients receive through the nursing practice. However, through the
research by the authors, the electronic study of the databases. However, some of the challenges
which nurses face when taking care of the patients with an intellectual disability include the
feeling that they do not have adequate skills that will give them an opportunity to serve the
patients with intellectual disability. Communication with the patients with intellectual disabilities
may become a hard task, and the nurses feel that they do not receive sufficient pay for the care
that they provide to the patients.
The work, however, does not include sufficient information about the taking care of the
patients with intellectual disabilities. Some of the methods applied in giving care require the
nurses to undergo specialized training that equips them with knowledge and information of
offering the best quality of care. However, through the information provided by the nurses, it is
clear that there is the need to understand the struggle which they go through as they strive to

Workplace Violence of Nurses – Annotated Bibliography
Nurses provide their services to patients with their skills. However, the nurses work
together with doctors and focus on how to ensure that patients recover quickly. Despite their
efforts, nurses face workplace violence which affects their ability to perform various functions.
In this case, some of the nurses face violence from the patients while others get harassed by the
doctors in charge. The administration may also form part of the harassing team thus making it
hard for patients to get full recovery through the services they offer. Workplace violence
becomes one of the ways through which nurses lose motivation so that it becomes hard to
operate efficiently.
Eslamian, J., Akbarpoor, A. A., & Hoseini, S. A. (2015). Quality of work life and its
association with workplace violence of the nurses in emergency departments.
Iranian journal of nursing and midwifery research, 20(1), 56. Retrieved from
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4325414/
The authors of the article argue that nurses form an essential part of the people providing
healthcare services to patients. However, workplace violence is one of the factors that has
contributed to poor quality of services delivered to the patients. The primary purpose of the work
was to identify the impact of workplace violence on the nurses and the patients. The article used
different methods of gathering data so that it could have enough to analyze. The use of a
questionnaire applied in ensuring that the nurses could give their answers without limitations.
The research, therefore, assisted in understanding the nature of problems and types of workplace
violence which affect nurses as they perform their duties.

However, despite the efforts of doing the research, it was biased since it only focused on
a small number of the nurses who could not give sufficient information about the issue. In this
case, the researchers would have looked for a large sample size that would ensure achievement
of detailed information related to workplace violence which affected nurses while performing
their duties. However, despite the challenge, it became possible to understand that workplace
violence was one of the ways through which nurses became affected so that they could not
deliver quality services. The study enabled the various groups to identify the causes of workplace
violence and the impact they had on their jobs. The research offers evidence which assists in
understanding that workplace violence has become a standard issue through which the nurses
have become demotivated and unable to provide quality services to the patients.
Park, M., Cho, S. H., & Hong, H. J. (2015). Prevalence and perpetrators of workplace
violence by nursing unit and the relationship between violence and the perceived
work environment. Journal of nursing scholarship, 47(1), 87-95. Retrieved from
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jnu.12112/full
According to the article, workplace violence has become prevalent in most of the
healthcare facilities. The nursing profession has become one of the most affected by workplace
violence, and there is the need to address the issue before it gets to change the entire nursing
workforce. On the other hand, the study aims at identifying the prevalence of the perpetrators of
the workplace violence and some of the ways through which dealing with the various issues
would take place in a working environment. The application of data collected by other healthcare
facilities would eventually lead to success as the healthcare facilities would identify the causes of
the violence and its impact as well as the methods of dealing with the challenge.

However, the study used a medium sized sample which implies that it could have become
impossible to have all the necessary information that would eventually show the success of the
study. Regardless of the size, it was possible to have an understanding of some of the factors
driving to workplace violence including poor communication among the nurses. On the other
hand, it was clear that the prevalent types of abuse included the verbal abuse, sexual harassment
and physical violence among others. The study offers sufficient information on workplace
violence and the evidence provided supports the fact that workplace violence affects the ability
of the nurses to perform their duties.
